What a night. What a crowd. What a sparkly, colourful, tinsel-filled New Year’s Eve celebration it was at the Wangaratta Showgrounds!
This year we decided to switch things up and do something a little different…
No braids this time — just Tinsel Extension Ponytails and Tinsel Braided Ponytails… and WOW did they go off with a HUGE bang!
From the moment the gates opened, we knew we were in for one of those nights that would be remembered for a long time.
Weather
The afternoon and evening brought the most beautiful summer vibe — warm air, a golden sunset sky, and that perfect “New Year’s Eve energy” buzzing through the Showgrounds.
As the sun dropped lower, the whole place lit up with colour, music, laughter, and excitement.
The Crowd & The Vibe
Wangaratta absolutely SHOWED UP!
Families poured in, kids were running around full of excitement, and the atmosphere was packed with happy chaos — the good kind!
Our stall was buzzing all night long, with a steady flow of people coming over to check out the sparkle wall and pick their favourite tinsel combos.
And let’s just say… the line-up said it all
We had a proper queue going, and the smiles on every kid’s face when they saw the ponytails… priceless.
What We Offered (and why it was a hit!)
This year’s New Year’s Eve menu was all about quick, fun, festival-ready hair that looked AMAZING in the lights:

They were bright. They were shiny. They were dramatic.
And they were PERFECT for New Year’s Eve photos and fireworks time!
We had so many kids choosing long rainbow blends, mermaid colours, icy blues, purples, and neon mixes — and they honestly looked like little walking fireworks themselves.
The Best Part
One of the best things about nights like this is seeing the confidence boost happen instantly.
A child walks up curious…
Then they pick their colours…
Then we pop in their ponytail…
And BOOM — they walk away like the main character. 💅✨
Some of the ponytails were so long and vibrant they nearly touched the ground, and the kids absolutely LOVED it.
Our Setup
We were set up under our Mermaidia Braids gazebo with all the colour on display, and it honestly looked so magical with the lights on as the evening got darker.
Having the ponytails hanging up and easy to see made it so much fun for families to browse and choose their favourites — and it kept everything flowing smoothly even when we got super busy.
Fireworks to Finish the Night
And then… the grand finale.
The crowd gathered, the excitement built, and the sky exploded into colour as the fireworks lit up the night.
It was the perfect ending to a massive night of sparkles, fun, and New Year’s Eve magic.
We stood there for a moment, taking it all in — tired, happy, and so grateful.
Final Thoughts
New Year’s Eve at the Wangaratta Showgrounds was everything we hoped it would be and more.
Even without braids, our tinsel ponytails absolutely stole the show, and we are SO glad we made the call to keep it simple, fast, and fabulous for such a big event.
