Orange Show – A Frosty First with Fireworks, Fun, and Fairytale Hair! 🎪❄️✨

Our very first visit to the Orange Show was a chilly one – but filled with charm, fireworks, and even a brush with a real-life Rapunzel!

We were so excited to bring Mermaidia Braids to this iconic event for the first time, and while the weather wasn't exactly on our side, we still found magical moments throughout the weekend that made it all worthwhile.

📅 Saturday – 17 May 2025

❄️ Weather: Perfect skies, but a cold 18°C

Saturday brought clear skies and fireworks at 7pm, but the cold had everyone bundled up and moving slowly. Michelle, in particular, was not built for winter (her words, not ours! 😂). Despite the chill, we had a great site on the main strip, so we were front and centre for anyone braving the cold for some sparkle.

Although it was a slower-than-usual day, we still got to share some colour and cheer with a few brave clients!

🌧️ Weather: Very, VERY cold and rainy all day – 10°C, but no wind

Sunday was... well, let’s just say winter had well and truly arrived in Orange! With constant rain and icy temperatures, it was just too cold for anyone to stop and sit for a braid. So, while Michelle didn’t braid a single head, she got to enjoy something equally special – a mini circus! 🎪

As someone who loves loves LOVES circuses, this little surprise turned the day around for her. And just when she thought the day couldn’t get any better, she met a real-life Rapunzel – a woman with blonde hair only 2 inches from the ground. Michelle was enchanted and so tempted to offer a fairy-tale braid on the spot, just like in the movie.

💫 Final Thoughts

While the Orange Show threw us a few weather curveballs, it still gave us beautiful memories and a few unexpected joys. From dazzling fireworks and our prime stall location to surprise circus moments and golden locks fit for a princess – it was a weekend we’ll never forget.
