109. VACCA Xmas Event Wodonga 2025
π VACCA Christmas Event β Wodonga
2 December 2025
On 2 December 2025, Mermaidia Braids had the honour of attending the VACCA (Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency) Christmas Event in Wodonga β a truly special day centred around community, culture and celebrating children and families at the end of the year.
From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt welcoming, joyful and full of connection.
βοΈ Weather
The day delivered beautiful early-December weather β warm sunshine, blue skies and just enough cloud cover to keep things comfortable. Perfect conditions for an outdoor celebration, with families spread across the grass enjoying performances, activities and plenty of festive cheer.
π The Journey
Getting there was part of the adventure, with open roads and classic regional scenery guiding us into Wodonga. Bubbles rolled in ready for another community event, bringing sparkles, colour and a bit of Mermaidia magic along for the ride.
π₯ Team
Michelle, Michael & Jordan attended together, setting up and working side-by-side throughout the event. As always, it was a shared effort β from unpacking the gear to welcoming families and packing down at the end of the day.
Events like this remind us why we do what we do β not just as a business, but as people who genuinely love being part of community celebrations.
πΆ Performances & Atmosphere
The event was filled with energy, laughter and music. Live performances drew crowds of children sitting front and centre, clapping, dancing and fully immersed in the moment. The sense of togetherness was palpable, with families relaxed, smiling and enjoying the day at their own pace.
π¬ Comments & Connections
One of the most beautiful parts of the day was seeing siblings and friends matching in festive outfits, proudly showing off their hair and sparkles. The joy on the kidsβ faces β especially the younger ones β was a reminder of how small moments can mean so much.
The VACCA team created a safe, inclusive and celebratory space, and we were grateful to be invited to contribute something fun and uplifting to the day.
πββοΈ Braids & Sparkles
Christmas-themed colours, neat festival braids and plenty of glitter were on show throughout the afternoon. Whether it was a simple sparkle or a full festive braid, each child left with a smile β and often a little extra confidence too.
β€οΈ Final Thoughts
The VACCA Christmas Event in Wodonga was a heartfelt way to wrap up the year β grounded in community, culture and care. We feel incredibly lucky to have been included and to share such a positive experience with so many families.
Thank you to VACCA for welcoming us so warmly, and for the work you do supporting children and families throughout the year. This was a day we wonβt forget.
