🎄 VACCA Christmas Event — Waves Pool, Wodonga

On 5 December 2025, Mermaidia Braids was honoured to attend the VACCA Christmas Event at Waves Pool in Wodonga — a vibrant, joy-filled afternoon celebrating children, families and community as the year drew to a close.

Set against the backdrop of the pool and outdoor grounds, the event had an unmistakable summer energy — laughter, music and colour everywhere you looked.

☀️ Weather

The day brought classic early-December conditions — warm, bright and a little breezy at times. While clouds rolled through briefly, the weather held perfectly for an outdoor celebration, with families moving between shaded areas, activities and the pool.

🚚 Arrival & Setup

We arrived early to set up our Mermaidia Braids marquee, with the colourful braid wall quickly becoming a visual highlight. Once everything was in place, the space transformed into a hub of excitement, with children spotting their favourite colours and lining up with big smiles and plenty of anticipation.

👥 Team

Michelle, Michael & Jordan worked together throughout the event — from setting up and greeting families to braiding, chatting and packing down at the end of the day. Having time between clients to observe the event and connect with people made this day feel relaxed and meaningful.

🌊 The Atmosphere

The Waves Pool venue added something special to the day. Kids moved effortlessly between swimming, performances and activities, creating a laid-back, holiday-style vibe. Groups gathered on the grass, siblings played together, and the sense of safety and inclusion was felt across the entire space.

The VACCA team created an environment where families could simply enjoy being together — something that felt especially important at this time of year.

One of the most heartwarming sights was seeing children proudly show off their fresh braids, often matching with siblings or friends. From neat cornrows to colourful double braids, each style came with a burst of confidence and excitement.

We had so many lovely conversations with families, sharing laughs, stories and moments that reminded us just how powerful these community events can be.

Festival braids were flowing all afternoon, with blues, purples and natural tones all proving popular. Whether it was a simple braid for swimming later or a bold festive look, every child left our chair smiling — usually with sparkles still catching the light.
