111. Market at the Mill 2025
π«β¨ Market at the Mill β Corowa Chocolate & Whisky Factory
6 December 2025 | 4:00β8:00 pm
On Saturday 6 December 2025, Mermaidia Braids headed to Corowa to take part in the much-loved Market at the Mill at the iconic Corowa Chocolate and Whisky Factory. Running from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, this twilight market is always something a little bit special β blending history, local makers, food, music and community into one relaxed evening experience.
From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt inviting and vibrant.
βοΈβοΈ Weather
The evening began beautifully. Warm air, soft light and a glowing sunset set the scene perfectly as the market came to life. As the night went on, however, the weather had other plans. Large thunderstorms began rolling in, with lightning visible in the distance.
For safety reasons, the decision was made to close the market early, which was absolutely the right call. While it was a slightly unexpected ending, everyone worked together calmly and respectfully as pack-down began.
π The Journey
The drive to Corowa was one of those classic regional road trips β wide open roads, tall gums and long stretches of quiet countryside. Watching the sky shift colours on the way in made the journey feel just as memorable as the event itself.
π₯ Team
Michelle and Michael attended together, setting up, working the stand and soaking in the atmosphere between clients. As always, it was a shared effort β from greeting families to managing the pack-down once the weather turned.
Even with the shortened evening, the teamwork and flow of the event made it feel relaxed and enjoyable.
π The Market Atmosphere
The Corowa Chocolate and Whisky Factory is a stunning backdrop for a market. Inside the historic mill, stalls were filled with handmade goods, art, local produce and gifts, while outside the twilight setting gave the event a cosy, festive feel.
People wandered, chatted, browsed and enjoyed the space β it felt like a true community gathering rather than just a market.
π¬ Comments & Connections
One of the highlights of the evening was seeing families arrive together and children proudly showing off their new braids as they explored the market. Even with the weather change, the mood remained positive, with lots of smiles, kind words and understanding from everyone involved.
Moments like these remind us that community events are about more than just time on the clock β theyβre about connection.
πββοΈ Braids & Sparkles
From neat festival braids to playful, colourful styles, the braiding chairs stayed busy while the skies held. Soft pastels, natural tones and subtle sparkle all featured, with plenty of kids (and a few adults) embracing something a little bit fun for the evening.
Even with an early finish, there were lots of happy heads leaving our stand.
β€οΈ Final Thoughts
The Market at the Mill was a beautiful evening that reminded us how special these local events can be β even when nature throws in a curveball. Safety always comes first, and weβre grateful to the organisers for handling the situation so professionally.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared a chat, or trusted us with their hair. We look forward to being back at Corowa again soon β hopefully under calmer skies.
